Comedy Attempt #1 - Gay Marriage

I never saw the harm in gay marriage, I never did, but apparently it's so threatening that an entire state had to ban it. But here's the kicker: they did it because they're pro-marriage, so they thought it would make sense to ban marriage. Yes, I admire that use of logic, myself.

Of course, it was out of keeping the sanctity of marriage, but how is someone's marriage affecting you? Because I don't certainly see straight couples going around, fighting about, "You just had to let Mike and Johnny hook up, didn't you?...You know what, we need to see other people."

And you know, as a Christian, it's very depressing to hear people say God hates homosexuals, yet say he loves all of his children. That doesn't make sense to me. You can't be preaching in church, "The Lord loves all of children", and start pointing out people like, "except for you, and you, and you, and you..." Because you can't go around spreading God's glory by telling people that they're going to burn in hell for who they are, because you know, that is some very positive information that will make their day.

And don't get me started on the Westboro Baptist Church, because they'll take it to the extreme. You even see kids holding signs saying, "God hates fags", and I'm fully aware of the fact that they don't know any better, but as much as I want to, I can't go up to them and say, "and God hates little bastards like you, but you wouldn't know that, you're eight." Just can't do it.

Otakon 2011 Review

Written August 4th, 2011

Seeing that I suck at making videos and don't plan on blowing my nose every ten seconds, I decided to write the review instead. This year was a good year, but a rather different experience. You'll learn about it.

The Game Room | My Tournament

The game room looked bigger this year, and was filled with new games, which was a plus. I mostly played Tekken 6, since that was the tournament I was entering. I was there all day to prepare for my tournament on Friday, and I've learned that practicing as much as you can against the computer is futile if you're training to beat a human opponent. Due to me never practicing against human competition, I got my ass kicked left and right, and throughout the whole weekend, I've only won five or six casual matches. I'm not complaining, though, since this was Otakon, so of course there would be experienced gamers here. As for my tournament, I made it to the second round. Again, I'm not complaining; I got past the first round, and that's all I wanted.

I didn't want to play MVC3 because there were no 360 controllers, and there were only PS3 controllers and pads, but that's not a con here. However, I would say that one of the cons here were that when playing Tekken, there would be people who wouldn't give up their seats after the three win limit. Hell, there was a guy who didn't give up his seat after 17 straight wins, and it gets worse when someone beats him and then repeat the cycle. What's the point of waiting in line for twenty minutes just to get your ass kicked in forty-five seconds? Plus, people would shake their heads whenever one would screw up in the fight. Not very encouraging, guys.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance

Great movie; that is all I can say. The only problem was that people would talk during the movie and literally kill the deepest moments in it with dirty comments and their lack of maturity. I even smelled someone eating Taco Bell behind me, chowing away while conversing with the person next to them.  Other than that, it was a good film, and I didn't have to pay to go watch it.

Para Para Panel

I really had a lot of fun here, despite screwing up when getting the routine being taught. I managed to get down the routine by the end, but pretty quickly though (probably because it wasn't my first time doing Para Para).
The song of the routine was very high-energy and fun, too. Someone even came up and complimented me. Nothing went wrong here.

The Rave
Friday Night was amazing. I partied with friends, danced to Mortal Kombat, and chickened out of hopping into a circle. Later on, I left and thought about heading into a 18+ panel, but went back to the game room before heading home.

Saturday, however, was more of a solo act. A friend couldn't make it so I went on my own. Not the greatest idea. All I did was watch people do Capoeira and dance in circles. Didn't hop in because I can't dance very well. Despite running into some friends and danced with them for a while, the night was pretty lonely, and it made it worse that two of my favorite songs came on. Besides from that, people kept shoving and bumping into me. I'm fully aware of it being a rave, but seriously people. Ramming into others like a SWAT officer grows to get very annoying. I'm not complaining though, since I had a good time throughout the weekend. The night just didn't go as planned. At least the Capoeira made it awesome.

Aftermath

As a result of this weekend, I got sick, or caught, "The Con Plague", which is why I didn't record the video. The Ice Cold Water Guy became a meme. I missed the CHEMISTRY concert, unfortunately, but the AMV Contest was still going on around that time. I didn't get Nobuo Uematsu's autograph, but the line was too long to begin with, as I was told. People were rude; some were not. I met new people, learned to have fun by myself, and had fun regardless. As of now, my agenda consists of:

-Getting my college classes and schedule done.
-Learn popping/locking/waving for Katsucon.
-Get back to making AMV's.
-Practice for Katsucon Idol 2012 (if there is another).

That's about it.

My con-raves experiences

OTAKON 2009 - SATURDAY NIGHT

Everyone knows this story - those who don't, on with it. Bertina and Oniel didn't want to go to the rave on saturday night so me and David went. Mind you, I know that it's a rave so of course stuff are going to happen. To start, a group of people were dancing behind me and a guy bumped me from behind, then a really big black guy bumped me in the shoulder, I bumped into a guy's really sweaty arm, and someone stepped on my toe. I turned around to see two chicks looking at me. I didn't know whether they were eying me and David or just staring me at me trying not to laugh at my terrible, unenthusiastic dancing. I looked between them and a guy had the same expression as they did. Finally, there was a couple making out with each other and moving around the place grinding on each other. They moved around aimlessly and almost bumped into me. I moved out the way and they crash into David, and they started to grind on him without even knowing. He felt violated that night.

KATSUCON 2010 - FRIDAY NIGHT

Brittany, Jordan, Stephanie, Christiana and Kate were really tired so they didn't want to go to the rave, and entering an elevator I met Glenden that Brittany and the others met. Because of their exhaustion, they kicked us out of their room and I tagged along with Glen, meeting DJ ASU, Se7en, the vocalist of The Villains 21, and Min, who told me to be myself at the rave. At the rave was this big circle where people were dancing in and I was nervous to jump in. Suddenly I felt Glen grabbed the back of my shirt and shoved me in. The circle got bigger and I started breakdancing. I only did helicopters and six-steps and some people cheered. That until a kid shows me up. Before that, there was a light-skinned guy in a fishnet shirt who kept dancing in the circle. I don't know his name so I'm just gonna call him Fishnet. Next this was this big, light-skinned guy in a white t-shirt dancing and I don't know his name either so let's just with T-Shirt.

I once again end up in the circle and ended up dancing against T-Shirt, who gave me a nod and a look that remind me of Otakon's incident. It wasn't really a battle, though. I just jumped into the circle on my own. Later on, two girls jumped in and started popping their butts and a few more start coming in. Fishnet comes in and does the same thing. Too well, to be exact since he did it a lot faster than they did. A while later, I see a really short guy grinding up on T-Shirt. T-Shirt was the same guy I danced/battled against. A while later, a guy gets on all fours in another circle and Fishnet gets behind him. A guy with spiky, black hair gets in front of the guy who's on the ground and he and Fishnet start thrusting forward as if they're...you get the idea.

KATSUCON 2010 - SATURDAY NIGHT

I tagged along with Glenden again and his friend Kristina after Brittany and the others were at the masquerade. I came across Christiana again who wanted to get some food and head back to the hotel. Roaming around in the game room, I call Glen to meet up with him and Kris on the 12th floor. Not to waste time I'm racing up the stairs and searching for an elevator. Hopping into an elevator with a dozen other people, I hit the 12th floor and they're already sitting outside of the elevator. A while later we met Dylan, one of the security guards at Katsucon.

We missed the dance-off while waiting at Elevation Burger because our food took too long. Upon heading to the convention, we had to wait in line for the rave, and met Cornelia and Matt. Hitting the rave, everything was the usual from friday night. Except that everything was more pumped. Glen danced his krumping-hardstyle-raving and somehow got me and Kris to dance in the circle. As Kris did her ballet-styled raving, I did my horrible robotic-tutting-popping raving. The three of us took turns freeze-tag raving in the circle and before I knew it, the rave ended. At 5 AM in the morning. We planned to crash in the atrium but we couldn't, so we ended up crashing in the hallway by the window on the 12th floor. It was a hectic night, and it wasn't fun waking up to the scenery outside the window.

That next morning we all parted ways and went home, but we're all probably gonna meet at Otakon.
This weekend was epic.

Xanadu, work, school

I'm heading to Baltimore next month for Xanadu. I'm kinda nervous because it's my first tournament outside of cons (third counting the last two tournaments at Otakon), so it's not just one round and you're out. Since it's Tekken 6, I don't know whether to use Nina or Anna. I grew up using Nina before switching to Anna (which is now my main), so if anything happens, Nina will be my last resort.

As for work,  I've been a bit exhausted and stressed out a bit. Tuesday was so exhausting that I didn't even go to class, and I had worked overtime two days later. At least tomorrow's payday...

As for school, I skipped class Tuesday evening and have done no work at all -_- And since I can't find the plug to my printer, I can't print the paper I kept putting off (in other words, haven't even done yet), along with that non-existent self-portrait. Juggling a 8 to 5 work schedule and evening and weekend classes every week. Can't really complain, though. Just have to break the procrastination habit.

I'm going to bed...
